In Liam OFlahertys The Sniper, every of these are brought to an acute realism in a unity war-torn city. Strong cerebral convictions and opposing philosophies, due to which people privation to destroy. The SniperHow does the beginning depict the hullabaloo and salute in a war-torn cityin The Sniper?Anger, pain, death and remorse- all unpleasant, but all are faced andhandled in every war. In Liam OFlahertys The Sniper, all of theseare brought to an acute reality in a single war-torn city. Strongcerebral convictions and opposing philosophies, due to which peoplewant to destroy the seemingly wrong plague this world and are the important reason for plight. To aid in his creation of such emotionalconflict, turbulence and plight, the author has portrayed the sniper as avery controversial character. This tale is oriented around onecharacter in the Civil struggle which he should not yet be in as he ismentioned to be a assimilator in the grade. The story whose main fore is violence , attempts to chronicle theshort span of fanaticism that inspires youth that leads to turmoil inthe first place. In this chaotic situation however, fanaticism is whatone whitethorn need in order to survive and this is exactly what the sniperis facing. This is shown when the sniper is said to be the studentwith the face of an ascetic. He has one task to perform- to exhaust thesoldiers of the Free States. However, the most important line thatcatches the attention of the reader is the look of a man who is usedto looking at death. This is very ironic as he was earlier comparedto a student who is like a symbol for innocence where now he is spokenof as a murderer. He is engrossed in fulfilling his duty and is now astudent of violence.... ...s the life of a soldier. The gory sights in the city of Dublin, torn away and paralysed withwar and fear is depicted by people bleeding in the gutters till theydie and rapid gunfire everywhere followed by a deafening silence.Killing is done in cold blood and even then, the sniper maintains calmuntil he kills his opponent sniper on the opposite rooftop. Thiscalmness in goriness clearly justifies the turmoil and the plight thatthe author shows in this short story. The author uses the course andcharacters of the story to chart the course of the characters in every medical prognosis of violence everywhere. The emphasis given(p) to the bloodshed, the war, the loss of life is morethan what is given to the feelings, the people and the life and inthis way Liam OFlaherty has depicted turmoil and plight in thewar-torn city in this short story titled The Sniper.
